To All,

I would like to hear everyone's comments concerning your past, before being saved, being brought up again to haunt you. For example, what if you were a drunk or drug addict and you have been sober for 10 years. During that 10 years you became saved and sanctified; however, there are those who know of or remember you when you were a drunk or an addict and bring it up as if you were still guilty of this behavior.

You have exhibited saintly wonders and signs, speaking in tongues perhaps and then praying diligently for others yet there comes an attack from perhaps a trusted source. The next thing you know, you are being accused of being a 'dry drunk' or having 'addictive' behavior or even speaking a 'devil's tongue' when indeed you have been tested and confirmed as being saved and redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb.

What would you say to an individual who has this constant problem with the past being resurrected again for no apparent reason?

The past is down stream, we are not going to ask about your past, why ask others about theirs? If someone wishes to testify, well and good, but it is not proper to ask folks to recount their past as it is in the sea of forgetfulness. Besides, such confessions are a factor of control to some extent.

I find it to be a great opportunity to explain the regenerative power of the Holy Spirit of God... I was as bad as anyone else at one time, but now because of the Holy Spirit living the life of Christ in me, I have no desire to be bad. I am still the same me, I am just an improved me... one with the trash removed.

I think you may have misunderstood the question, Falcon was not asking us to divulge our past sins, he was asking how do we handle people who continually bring up our past sins to slander us or make us look like hypocrites...

Firstly, you could see if there are any undealt-with offenses with those folks who are 'bringing up' your past to you. It is possible that such things have caused bitterness in them, and that they can only see you for what you 'did,' and not as the 'new creation' you are in Christ. So, that'd be a first stop...after praying, of course.

If this isn't the case, then you can most definitely do what Earla was talking about: using this as a time to disclose the wonderful, miraculous works of the hand of God in your life.

Whatever the reason for this, know that the LORD knows...and He will give you rest and peace concerning your past. Don't forget that Satan always tries to get us at our weak points...and he IS the Accuser. [and a liar, don't forget!]

If you know for certain that all that you do in the name of the LORD IS from the LORD, then rest in that and don't let naysayers distract you from the LORD's work. However, remember that the LORD uses other people in our lives [constantly] to bring us around to Himself...so don't discount even the hurtful things people say and do. The LORD will use these to build us up into Christ--somehow. We may have believed in a deception, and the LORD is using someone to show us to look at that...even though we 'believe' it to be of the LORD. [the essence of deception is that we don't KNOW we are deceived.] We should never be so proud that we refuse to look again at what we've come to believe about the LORD and our walk in Him. We, as Believers, must seek wisdom and allow the LORD to humble us. It's hard sometimes, to let the LORD tear down our hard-fought belief systems...but we must allow it periodically ...in order for Him to rebuild the most solid foundation--Christ alone. [back to those Basics, eh, David? :)]

God bless you. I'm sorry you are being hurt.

Hi,

Excellent posting!

Yes, the Basics of Christianity [God Loves us and God is for us] very Basic and very important.

As usual OsmFalcon has brought out anther Anointed topic that is Crucial that we discuss.

This whole concept of how do we move on and move ahead in our Christian walk with Jesus is really where the rubber hits the road and it is often where the Battle rages as Satan knows where he needs to react and where he cannot afford to loose and Christian Maturity/Growth is the battle that he cannot ignore and Unfortunatlly in his scheme Satan wages it against the individual Christian making it an even more unpleasant and personal ordeal to have to deal with But making the Triumph and Victory all the more fulfilling.

** Of absolute importance a main theme of the Bible and Christianity is you ARE what you do!!! Not what you were. The Bible both Old and New Testaments is not impressed with how or when (at what age) a person begins a relationship with God. The Bible is exclusively concerned with how each individual is progressing and Accomplishing/Finishing (Teleios, 5046) their walk/relationship with God.

In other words are you a person of Prayer, Praise, Dedication, Service, Etc, you are Because that is what you are doing at this given moment whatever you do in life is what Fashions who and what you are. This is stated as the Bible tells us to focus on Jesus and we will pick up His manners and characteristics yet to focus on Idols like, Money, Pride, or Pornography is to become like those Idols, Self Sufficient, Proud and Debased.

Of course Satan is out to kill, steal and destroy our relationship with God and Satan does not need to attack his captives because his captives are not doing the will of God therefore the attention of the Satanic/Demonic realm is focused on those of us who are trying to walk with God. Meaning that as others have said in this topic do not ignore or negate the fact that this is a very spiritual battle and does require Spiritual protection of Prayer, Praise, Fellowship, Bible Reading and the rest of the Christian Armor described at the end of Ephesians chapter 6.

I think that Jesus knowing full well, the devices of the Devil, instructed us Not to look back, knowing all of the hardship and the difficulty that can be encountered in it and in knowing all of the freedom that can be gained by Focusing on Jesus Himself, Jesus did take this sword out of Satans hands by telling us the following.

Luke 9:62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

God Bless you,
David

Hi John,

My composition was an example of some individual who may be going through a time of unfounded accusations, when in reality they are walking upright before God.

What I was asking is how would a person, having endured these unfounded accusations respond to others who consistently bring up their past to deter the saint from continuing in the work of the Lord?

Sorry if I was not clear with my composition. God bless ~Minister Falcon

Hi Amy,

You said: Firstly, you could see if there are any undealt-with offenses with those folks who are 'bringing up' your past to you.

This is most likely the problem in the individual who is doing the accusing - misconducted offenses within themselves. The Lord gave me a helpful experience in understanding our own motives when we accuse people of past sins reinacted.

Take a piece of paper and ask an individual to list three things that are positive about another person [Jim]. Then list three things that are imperfect. The list might go like this as an example:
Positive: Jim is kind. Jim is thoughtful. Jim is sweet.
Negative: Jim is a dry drunk. Jim has an addictive personality. Jim is troubled.
Now you take the same list and replace the name 'Jim' with your own name. In this way, you can see the reflection of one's own attitude. Mercy, grace, and love take on a whole new meaning.
This composition was just a test case and not personal to me. However, you commentary is good advice for one going through persecution. Thanks Amy. ~Minister Falcon

Hi! It is true that when we are critical of others, it is often because of our own deficit in the same area where we are critical of in that person. That sounds like a very good exercise!
